We discussed LOUD (forte) and piano (quiet) in music class. We practiced playing drums at different dynamics (volumes) to make the music sound more interesting. Here is a video to review: Students in the CARE building have been exploring making music with unconventional instruments. This week, we learned to read basic music notation while "playing" cups to a beat. Students worked in groups to compose their own "cup songs" to perform for the class!
This week we listened to the Finale of the William Tell Overture by Giachino Rossini. We listened to the form of the music and played different shaped instruments when the music changed. To reinforce the concept of form, we used a parachute to show the different sections of the piece and painted the walls with different colored flashlights. This week we learned two new words in music class: presto (fast) and largo (slow). Watch this video to review! |
