This week, we found out the rhythms of our names by counting the syllables and writing corresponding notes on our Sound Shapes!

When reading rhythms, we use the Kodály Method. This means that we "speak" rhythms while reading them using different sound syllables. You can practice reading and playing along with the following videos at home!
This week we talked about FORTE (loud) and piano (quiet).
We also used a website called Bouncy Balls to see the impact of different dynamics while playing our instruments. You can make balls, emojis, or even eyeballs bounce using your voice or different instruments. Enable your microphone and try it out at home! The first week of school, we focused on one of the fundamental elements of music: BEAT. We recited the following chant as our definition: The beat, the beat, the beat is so sweet. It lets you know to go fast or slow. It stays the same, it doesn't change. We played drums along with Gloria Estefan's "Turn the Beat Around."
